Fall

We're learning about fall this week! We had a fun day! We went on a scavenger hunt for fall items this morning and we found a lot of cool stuff! We had a choice whether or not to glue our fall items on paper; some did and some didn't! Then we got to see if pumpkins, acorns, nuts, gourds, corn, and apples would sink or float in our sensory table! Most of them sank but it was fun experimenting! We also changed our room a little; we covered our kitchen area up to make a fall festival! We have all the sink or float items in our fall festival plus more! The kiddos were really excited about that! It was a fun day! Ms. Ashley

This is our last day of learning about fire safety. This week went by so quickly! We read the book Flashing Fire Engines. We drew with charcoal, played a game about spots on a fire dog, and practiced calling 911! We even practiced making fire truck sounds! Our Star of the Week shared his board and shared some toys he brought from home! Have a good weekend, Ms. Ashley

Fire Fighter's came today!

We had just an amazing day! We had Fire Fighter Chris and Joe come today! They showed us their uniform and their fire trucks! We even got to walk inside the fire truck! We read Stop, Drop, and Roll then practiced outside on the playground! During small groups we made fire trucks out of shapes. We used red, yellow, and orange noodles and beads to make a necklace. We also matched fire trucks and fire stations together then hurried to find other items to match the stations! We had a very fun, fast day! Ms. Ashley

Today we read the book The Day of a Fire Fighter. We didn't have a lot of kiddos at school today so during small groups we all went to the art tables! First we dotted our fire dogs after rolling a dice to tell how many dots to put on our dogs. We made fire fighter hats out of a paper plate and glued our fire badges from Monday on them. We then mixed red and yellow paint to make the color of fire! Tomorrow we will have a fire fighter come visit us at school! Ms. Ashley

Letter F Day

Today we learned about the letter F! One small group was making the letter Ff with wikkistiks. Another group we had a tub with items that started with F but you had to be careful because there were a few items that did not start with F! The last group we tore tissue paper into pieces and glued them onto a paper to make fire! It was a Fabulous day! We also finished up on school pictures; retakes will be in October! Ms. Ashley

Fire Saftey Week!

I'm so glad to be back! I had an amazing honeymoon but I missed the kiddos so much. This week we are learning about fire safety and fire fighters! Today we matched hats and boots together according to the number on them, we made fire badges for our hats we will make later in the week, and we practiced dialing 911 on a cell phone! We also had school pictures today; everyone did a wonderful job showing their best smiles! Tomorrow we will continue to do school pictures. It was a very fun day!! Ms. Ashley

Today has been such a fun day! We've had a lot of things going on today. We started our day with Miss Amy from The University of Missouri Extension. She taught us all about germs, where they come from, how they're spread and what effects they have on us. We only had 2 small groups today. The first one was using our fine motor skills and lacing the outside of bear shapes. We played a bear memory matching game in our other group. After groups we each got out our stuffed animals and sat back at the circle time area and learned some prepositional words. We then took our bears and had a parade all inside the building, stopping at the office, toddler room and kitchen! Our star of the week read the class an Avengers book and also had more visitors eat lunch with him!

September 18, 2013

Today we went on a bear hunt, and they also decorated some more of our classroom cave. Our class made their own fuzzy bears today. They painted theirs bears with brown glue, and then the covered it with saw dust. We had lots of kiddos really interested in this activity because they said they have never touched saw dust before! We played in the sensory table with bears and we pretended to act how we each thought a bear would act in the wild. We had some bears picking flowers and some bears chasing cats! We had button sorting which was a lot of fun for the kids, and they came up with several different ways to sort our buttons. We sorted by color, shape, how many holes each button had and even by size; small, medium and large.

Tuesday, September 17th

After breakfast today Miss Stacy came and did her nutrition lesson. She taught them the importance of moving and being active everyday and also played Elmo Says with the children. They had a blast doing it! In our small groups today we worked on fine motor skills and practiced writing the letter E and e in the rice. We also practiced making those same letters using the wikkisticks on the light box in another group. In the third group we used the foam alphabet puzzle and the kids identified their letters and then found the correct spot in the puzzle for the pieces. We had lots of kiddos that did amazing at letter recognition! We would like to say a special thank you to our Star of The Weeks visitor for coming to lunch and making his day extra special!
