Today we read the book I Like Myself! In the book the little girl had crazy hair so in one of our small groups like rubbed a balloon on our hair to make it crazy! We painted ourselves and measured different parts of our bodies with yarn! Today our "Star" of the week showed us his Star of the Week board and his mom read Pete the Cat to us! Have a good weekend and Labor Day! Ms. Ashley

Today we read the book ABC I Like Me! We painted, made squares on the geoboard, and looked at the Ipad's photo booth! The photo booth app allowed the students to take a picture of themselves then they could change it! They stretched their noses out and made their cheeks big! It was very funny! We had a very good day! Ms. Ashley

Today we read the book Silly Milly! The book talked about all the silly things that Milly did; one of the silly things she did was love seeds but did not like flowers! So we planted seeds! We traced our bodies on a big paper and colored it however they wanted.  For our math small group, we used a balance scale and counted how many beans it took to weigh more than a rock.  The kiddos love the beans in the sensory table! When you come in to get your child, you'll have to look at our window between the quiet room and hallway to see our seeds! Ms. Ashley

The letter B

Today we focused on the letter B. We sang our alphabet song, made the letter Bb with wikisticks on paper and the light box, made a butterfly that when closed looks a like B, and made blue play dough! It was a busy day with our letter B but very successful! Ms. Ashley

We had a lot of kiddos gone today, you guys were missed! Today we read the book I Like Me and talked about you can be your own best friend! In the book, it talked about how you should stay clean and eat healthy! So we did an experiment with pennies to show how to stay clean! One cup was filled with water, one with water and dish soap, and one with vinegar and salt.  We hypothesized and most everyone thought the water and dish soap cup would make the pennies the cleanest; however, it was the vinegar! The students all liked the clean looking pennies better than the old, dirty ones! We sorted healthy and unhealthy food while talking about how healthy food makes you grow big and strong! Lastly, we made an All About Me book! You will have fun looking at those! We had another great day! Ms. Ashley

Today we read The Kissing Hand which is an amazing story! If you haven't read it, it's about a raccoon who was scared to go to school but his mother kissed the middle of his palm and told him that her love would always be with him everywhere he goes! So in small groups today we made our own kissing hands! We counted hearts after rolling a dice and read the book David Goes to School while discussing rules at school.  Oh and we finally got our lightbox working!! Have a wonderful weekend! Ms. Ashley

Today we used our hands a lot! We read the book Starting School and looked at how our school is the same and different than the school in the book. We fingerpainted our names, used stamp pads to fingerprint paper and looked at our fingerprints closely with a magnifying glass. We also got to use geo boards to make shapes! It was a fabulous day! Ms. Ashley

Today we read the book The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School! During our small groups, we read the book Pete the Cat Wheels on the Bus while acting it out then put buses in order by number, got to measure and mix cookie dough, and made our own gingerbread man with play dough! Everyone seemed to have a blast! Ms. Ashley

I'm so sorry I completely forgot to post yesterday... let's see, yesterday we read the book I Love School and talked about buses.  Today we learned about the letter Aa.  Every Tuesday will be a letter day this year.  It was a very successful day! We sang our new alphabet song and I put a copy of the song in everyone's cubby in case you wanted to sing it at home! Ms. Lynn helped instruct one of our small groups today so the kiddos were really excited about that! When we went outside, most of the students took the chalk and were making letter A's everywhere! Very exciting! Also, every month we will focus on a shape.  This month is a square. If you ever want to know what letter or shape we're working on, I will always have it on the preschool bulletin board along with the lesson plans for the week and our daily schedule! Ms. Ashley

Today we learned about how everyone is unique but we fit perfectly all together! We read the book The Crayon Box that Talked! That is such a great social book to read. We used shaving cream and put water colors in it, sorted colors, and talked about how each one of us is unique and different from one another. Another great day!! Ms. Ashley

Getting all the routines down!

Today was fantastic! We read a book about things you can put in your pocket. We had small groups, patterned, painted with marbles, and used musical instruments! It's been a busy day! I'm still trying to get the pictures from the iPad on our blog! Please be patient I'm working on it! Ms. Ashley

I am so excited about today because we SUCCESSFULLY completed small groups! This is something new we will be doing this year. Before we have absolutely free choice of the learning centers, the students must first choose two teachers to complete small groups with! I cannot wait for what the year has to bring! Ms. Ashley
