Back to School!

Today we learned about New Year's and Chinese New Year! We read the book My First Chinese New Year. In small groups we used chop sticks to sort pom-poms by either color or size, we looked at a Chinese mat with animals and figured out which animal we were and acted the animal out, then we made a dragon puppet! Since this is our first day back to school we changed a few things! We now have a number line to line up on; at review everyday the kids will draw a number and they must find and name the number! Then we will go do our gross motor! Also we changed their attendance pictures and the names on the floor! We added first and last names to the names on the floor to help them start recognizing both. For attendance we made smaller pictures and big last names! When the kiddos arrive they will bring their pictures to a teacher and spell their name. If the first name is easy we will move to the last name. If both are easy we will write their birthday, address, and telephone number on the back and start learning those!
