Happy Halloween!
We had such a fun day today! We listened to the book In the House that Jack Built on the radio in our haunted house (quiet room)! At the end of the story there was a skeleton stew so we made our own stew! We had crushed up bats (grape koolaid), mashed bones (sugar), and ghost pieces (dry ice). All the kiddos got to try it if they wanted! After that we loaded up and went to the court house! We had a blast and I want to thank all the parents who helped drive! We couldn't have done it without you! After the court house, we came back to school and started our Halloween games! We had one group that tossed the bean bags into the pumpkins mouth. We had pin the nose on the pumpkin. Lastly, we made spider webs by dripping noodles in white paint and dragging it across black paper then glued a spider on it! I hope everyone has fabulous Halloween! Ms. Ashley

We carved a pumpkin today!
Today we read the book The Little Old Lady That Was Not Afraid of Anything. We all shared what we were afraid of! In the book, there was a Jack-O-Lantern following this little old lady so we made our own Jack-O-Lantern! The students had their names and got to place them under the shape they wanted for the eyes, nose, and mouth. We counted which shape had the most names and that was the shape we used! They each had a turn pulling out the pumpkin guts then everyone made their own pumpkins! They scrunched paper into balls and put it inside a paper bag. Then we tied a green stem on the pumpkin and painted it orange! It was a fun day! Ms. Ashley

Letter J
We learned the letter J today! In small groups we traced the letter J in shaving cream, we glued little Jack-O-Lantern's on a J, and we patterned big and little J's! We count down to Halloween everyday and they were really excited to know that Halloween is only 2 day away! It was just a fabulous day! Ms. Ashley

Halloween Week!
Today we read the book Skeleton Meets the Mummy. In small groups we listened for a number and flew that many bats into a cave, we scooped green gel into a baggie then added eyes, and we drew a skeleton then added three Q-tips for ribs! We also put new stuff in our room! Ms. Lynn bought black, white, and orange beans for the sensory table and put spiders, skeletons, pumpkins, and worms in it! We put squishy frogs, caterpillars, and our squish-able eye-gel in our science area with bugs! Ms. Lynn also brought in a ton of new dress-up outfits! We put out some Halloween masks out for the kiddos to wear and they are having a blast! We also got to plant our own spider plants to take home and keep in our room! We will have a new job helper to water the plants everyday! It was a very busy day! See everyone tomorrow! Ms. Ashley

Bats
Today we learned about bats. We read the book Bats. We did a large group activity where we tied a bandana over the kiddos eyes and they listened for the bell like a bat would in a cave! In small groups we painted an egg carton black to make a bat and we rolled a dice then put star stickers on our bat paper according to the number we rolled! We also celebrated 2 birthdays, Ms. Natalie and Millie! We had a fun day! See you next week! Ms. Ashley
